The initial inspiration for  "Dragon Charmer"  was the invitation to participate in a potential art project that involved dragons, so that got the "dragon juices" flowing, but mainly the idea I conjured came about when imagining how powerfully magical it would feel if one could tame or charm so mighty a creature as a dragon!  Who could possess such powers but a fae spirit?  So the ideas for this piece came about, and I  added a bit of my own fascination and childhood love of Puff the Magic Dragon, the Loch Ness Monster, ...and stretched it to include the fae lad on the rock in the lower right-hand corner charming the dragon with his magic flute, and as you can see, also having a bit of dragon in himself via his dragonfly wings.  This then led to the idea of adding the also-charmed dragonflies (perhaps the last relatives of dragons?) in the piece...all congregating and lured by whatever dragon-links they share, or powers the magic of the flute holds over them, drawing them in on this mystic moonlit scene.....
