The inspiration for Orange Birch Bolete Shroom Fae came as part of a planned series of edible mushrooms! A bolete is particularly good to eat (especially in soups!) and can usually be found close to birch trees as it names implies. It's cap is usually 3 inches to 10 inches in diameter with a fluffy appearance that becomes more leathery-looking as the mushroom ages. It is very dry but can become sticky in wet weather. The stem is 3 inches to 8 inches in length, white, and has notable dark brown or black flecks that make it easy to identify. It's season is summer to late autumn.
The bolete shroom fae are very romantic faeries, in love with dancing to the rustle of birch leaves, and prone to staying amongst groves of birches ...you rarely find them anywhere else. Their natural coloring helps them blend well into their surroundings. They are said to cast bewitching love spells on passers-by who wander into their habitat and they are very attracted to human men. Pity the man who falls irrevocably in love with an Orange Birch Bolete Shroom Faery...he will be spolit for any other.
As with ANY mushroom, you should never handle or consume mushrooms unless you are absolutely certain of the identity of it and it's safety to eat. And NEVER trust the recommendations of a mushroom-hunting faery who may actually wish to do you harm!
