The ubiquitous "they" say there is a very fine line between obsession and insanity.  Art CAN be an obsession, and I dare say, most any artist will tell you they are compelled by some unseen force to make, often beyond all reasonable constraints, time to draw and paint.  It's an unexplainable compulsion, ...a driving force that gets one through one's day...if only for a half hour of drawing time at 12:30 a.m. when one should be sleeping!  Add "fantasy" to the mix and there is an added element of *magic*! 

How DOES one explain why they are drawn to capturing on paper, canvas, or in clay, the mystery of faeries lurking in the garden or behind the hedge at gloaming, angels that whisper in one's ear, dragons roaring at the side of the road one drives along, and elves that inhabit the bottom of one's coffee cup?  They simply ARE.  If you do not hear or see them, then surely the discussion of them must seem rather silly.  Still, I can't help but pity those who do not hear the call, or the whispers, or feel the tickles of magic in their soul.  T'is a gift for fantasy artists to be able share what they see to those who cannot.....

This site is not only "a gathering" of fantasy artists, it's a tribute to them as well.  To all, .....whether well-known full-time fantasy artists, or those starting out who eek out a mere scrap of part-time each day or week trying to make and sell your fantasy magic between the grind of a job doing otherwise.
